Greetings! Thanks for visiting the website. I am the Dean of the College at Southeastern where I also teach Philosophy and the History of Ideas. I came to Christ when I was 18 years old and surrendered to vocational ministry shortly thereafter. I earned a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, GA in 2000 and then moved to Wake Forest, NC to work on my graduate degrees. I graduated with my MDiv in 2004 and then earned a PhD in Theological Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2008. I pastored in NC for 10 years, and also served in various churches as a Youth Pastor and Minister to Adults. Currently, I am working on a second PhD in Philosophy from the University of Birmingham in England where I’m studying philosophical issues pertaining to what it means to be a human being.
I am the author of Science and Theology: An Assessment of Alister McGrath’s Critical Realist Perspective (Wipf & Stock, 2010), co-author of How Do We Know?: An Introduction to Epistemology (IVP, 2013), and co-editor of God and Evil: The Case for God in a World Filled with Pain (IVP, 2013). I also have several books in the works with IVP and Baker.
More importantly, I am married to the sweet and beautiful Tara Dew and together, we have 4 children: two sets of twins!
About the Website:
Unlike most websites, I’m not particularly interested in highlighting my own thought on topics and issues, though I occasionally chime in with a few things along the way. Instead, I want to provide resources for those who are interested in Christianity in general, but theology, philosophy, education and ministry in particular. I highlight different resources that I find helpful on a wide range of topics, and I sit down with experts from different disciplines to help us think through what the Christian life looks like in the twenty-first century.
I hope this website is helpful for you as you seek to understand Christianity and live out your faith. If there are particular topics and issues you’d like me to help with, please let me know!
